Here's what happened in March 2024.
Mixed findings for March. Average sale prices were actually down from February in most markets, homes sold close to their list price but fewer homes actually sold and days on market decreased. I believe percentage of homes sold decreased due to an uptick in homes on the market which is typical for Spring - more homes to choose from!
The next Bank of Canada announcement is April 10th, 2024 and it is expected that rates will hold again for the sixth time which will keep the market strong and buyer confidence will continue to increase. We are seeing 5 year fixed rates under 5% now. There is speculation about a slight rate decrease for the June or July Bank of Canada announcement which may bring even more buyers into the market, therefore increasing demand resulting in price increases.
