Here's what happened in January 2024.
Average sale prices were down slightly from December, homes sold closer to their list price and less homes actually sold due to more homes being on the market. January was far more active than usual. Word got out that buyers are very much ready and eager to buy so more sellers got their homes on the market instead of waiting until March and onwards which is normally when spring market starts.
The Bank of Canada held rates for the fourth time at the January 24, 2024 announcement so buyer confidence keeps increasing.
